Page Content The New Frameworks for Teacher Education in Israel: Rationale, Conceptual Perspectives and Implementation
 Wednesday, December 10, 2008 19:00 – 20:30 - Israel time
Description: This online presentation provides a broad view of the recent reform in teacher education in Israel. First, I describe the background and context in which The New Frameworks for Teacher Education (the frameworks) were initiated and approved by The Council for Higher Education. In this part I lay out the guiding principles and goals of the committee that developed the frameworks and illuminate the important recommendations and their implications. Then I will focus on the unique process of implementation that has been in the works by another committee for over a year-and-a half. As the chairperson of both committees I can share the importance of continuity, flexibility and support in implementing the reform.
What exactly is an online encounter? The online encounter environment (WEBINAR) enables presentations, sites, programs and video movies to be presented in parallel to an interactive discussion with the audience by means of vocal and written communication and the use of signs for expressing emotion. Each participant has his own communication channel and can request and receive permission to speak and voice his opinions. The big advantage of online encounters lies in the fact that there is no need to go to the place where the event is being held since it is possible to participate in the activities at home. Most of the online encounters take place at times that are convenient for the participants.
